George Curtiss King

George Curtiss King, 84, of Abilene, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011. The son of Blanche (Turner) and George Harvey King, George was born on September 23, 1927 in Carbon, Texas in Eastland County, and graduated from Eastland High School. In 1996, he moved from Winters, Texas to Abilene. Mr. King was a builder and an investor. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Browning King, in 2008; daughter, Barbara Nell Spencer; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Johnson; and parents, George and Blanche King. George is survived by his son, Keith Craig of Abilene; grandson, Christopher Craig; and great-grandson, Chris Craig. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
