Geneva Mae Petty-Adams, 92, died Friday, April 2, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South, with Rev. David Cason officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The daughter of Effie Lee (Newby) and John Steve Petty, she was born on September 21, 1917 in Gail, Texas in Borden County. She graduated from high school in Roby, Texas, and moved from Roby to Abilene in 1935. She married Russell P. Adams in Sweetwater, Texas. She had formerly worked as a secretary for Crown Central Petroleum Corporation for 21 years. Prior to that, she was an employee of the City of Abilene, serving as the secretary to the City Manager, whom at that time was Mr. Boyd McDaniel. She was a member of Abilene Bible Church. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell P. Adams on April 16, 1989; brother, Archie Petty; and sister, Mrs. Roy Lee Wilson. She is survived by one son, Russell Robert Adams of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
