Gene Golding

1927 — January 5, 2011

Gene Golding, 83, died Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at an Abilene medical center. The son of Clarissa (Thompson) and Thomas Reed Golding, Gene was born on September 30, 1927 in West Virginia. He married Willie Helen Lee on July 3, 1969 in Illinois. He was an electronic technician, having retired from Boeing Aircraft. The couple moved to Abilene from Wichita, Kansas in 1996. In Abilene, Gene was a member of Liberty Baptist Church which he loved very much. His church and singing were very special to him. Gene enjoyed singing at various nursing homes in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Gene is survived by his wife, Willie Golding of Abilene; son, Scott Golding and wife, Jackie of Abilene; two very special grandchildren, Levi Golding and Malia Golding; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Jami McCravey officiating. Interment will follow in Hawley Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 1857 Pine St., Abilene, TX 79601.
