Gay "Mimi" Robinson, 75, passed away on December 18, 2017, in her home of Possum Kingdom Lake (Graford), Texas.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Gay was born in Sacramento, California to Noel and Maxine Percifull on February 7, 1942. After her father returned from serving in World War II, the family moved to Abilene when Gay was just a young child. There she met the love of her life, Carl Robinson, while attending Abilene High School where she later graduated in 1959. Gay and Carl were married on June 7, 1960, and built a beautiful life together over the course of 57 years of marriage. Gay's life was centered upon her family in which she could not have been more proud or passionate about. She was the mother of two children, her first child, Carla Gay Robinson, was born in 1961 and five years later, a son Carl Allen Robinson, Jr.
While raising her children and being an unwavering partner to her husband, Gay also built a successful sales career and was active in the community. She was recognized for her work in real estate and also as a sale executive with KRBC radio and KTAB television. Gay loved building lasting friendships and making a difference through Junior League of Abilene and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Red Coats. She was known for her volunteerism and advocacy for the West Texas Rehab Center as well as the Ben Richey Boys Ranch.
Gay and Carl left Abilene in 2000 after retiring from their careers and moved to their second home at Possum Kingdom Lake. They continued building their life around friends while also making joyful memories with family. These were the times that Gay truly cherished the most.
Without question, her family was the basis of everything she lived for in life. Gay's love for Carl, her two children, and five grandchildren remained at the heart of her world. She never passed up an opportunity to share stories about them with friends and strangers alike. Much joy was found in being involved in the lives of her grandchildren, and she was undoubtedly the biggest fan of each one. Gay never missed a chance to celebrate them and fully enjoy all the things they did. It is well known that of all her life achievements, she was most proud of being Mimi.
She loved the great state of Texas and was an enthusiastic fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Texas Rangers. Gay found great comfort in a good book, her vast collection of family photos and a peaceful walk with one of her many dogs that she loved over the years.
Gay made a lasting impact on this world and will be missed terribly, but her legacy will always continue and the family invites those who share their love for Gay to join them in honoring her on Wednesday, December 27th.
Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Maxine Percifull.

Robinson, Sr. of Possum Kingdom Lake; her daughter, Carla Robinson Kitten and grandchildren, Courtney Kitten Ellis and her husband, David Ellis of Colleyville, Texas, and Cameron Kitten of Lubbock; along with her son Carl Robinson Jr., his wife Trish, and her grandchildren Conley, Liam and Bella Robinson of Bartonville.
