Ganpat Ganesh, 73, of Abilene Texas, passed away on January 14, 2019 in Dallas TX. Viewing will be from 5pm – 7pm on Friday January 18, 2019 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday January 19, 2019 at Abilene First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor David Kessel officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Ganpat was born in Bushlot, West Coast Berbice, Guyana to Phulwantie Ganesh and Hardeo Ganesh on April 3, 1945. He attended LatchmanSingh Primary and Berbice High Schools. He then went on to further his education at the University of Guyana, where he graduated with a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Math and Physics. He taught for 44 years as a Math and Physics teacher while in Guyana and the Bahamas. He was also a part time college professor in the Bahamas. Since giving his life to Christ in September 1967, Ganpat served in many capacities - Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, church board member and assisted in outreach ministries in Guyana. In addition, he was a District Licensed Minister in the Church of the Nazarene, in the Bahamas district, for 12 years where he pastored for four years. He married Bibi Sahidan Ganesh on July 28, 1967 and together they had three children: Brian Ganesh, Vivian Ganesh Wilson and Allan Ganesh. After retiring in August 2007, he and his wife moved to Abilene TX where he continued to be active in Abilene First Church of the Nazarene. Ganpat was preceded in death by his father Hardeo Ganesh, Mother Phulwantie Ganesh, Brothers Basdeo Ganesh (Pato) and Heeralall Ganesh (Bayo). Ganpat is survived by his wife Bibi Ganesh, 3 children: Brian Ganesh, Vivian Ganesh Wilson and Allan Ganesh, their spouses Elizabeth Ganesh, Damon Wilson and Shelly Singh-Ganesh. His Brothers and Sisters Rajkumarie Kabool (Data), Tulsadai Budhu (Sabo), Leelawattie Ramdass (Leela), Chitraka Rampersaud (Baby), Pooran Ganesh (Bose), Kasarmattie Usman (Betty), Nandkumar Ganesh (Suno) Grandchildren - Ayden Ganesh, Ocean Wilson, Marcus and Andrew Ganesh and their mother Janet Ganesh. Pallbearers will be Pooran Ganesh (Bose), Rasheed Bacchus (Buddy), Neil Ganesh, Damon Wilson, Marcus Ganesh and Andrew Ganesh.
