Fred Hamilton

Fred Hamilton, 68, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Potosi Baptist Church with Rev. James McCurley officiating, assisted by Rev. Jeff Hatcher. Burial will follow at the Potosi Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Mr. Hamilton was born March 16, 1937 in Plainview, Texas to D.C. Hamilton and Lula (Umphres) Hamilton. He married Sarah Ann Hollingshead in June of 1956. Mr. Hamilton was Principal and head basketball coach in Loop, Texas before moving in Abilene in 1972. He was a graduate of McMurry University. Fred owned and operated Hamilton Supply Company located at 1364 East Highway 80 in Abilene, Texas with his son, David. He was a member of Potosi Baptist Church. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ann Hamilton of Potosi, one son, David Hamilton and his wife Carman, of Abilene, one daughter, Jayme Schmalzried and her husband Ernie, of Plano, five grandsons, Dustin, Jaden and Michael Schmalzried, and Andrew and Austin Hamilton. Joseph Vasek, Greg Hollingshead and Mr. Hamilton's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Potosi Cemetery Association, 109 Bynum Lane, Abilene, TX, 79602.
