Fred Dulin, 69, of Abilene passed away on Monday, October 16, 2006 after a brief illness at a Fort Worth hospital. A visitation for family and friends is planned for Thursday, October 19 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Wayne Oglesby, Dr. Toby Williams, and Dr. Allen Neece will conduct a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20 at the funeral home.
Fred was born November 7, 1936 in Wink, the second child of Joe and Ozelia Gray Dulin. West Texas was Fred's home until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He attended Baylor University and McMurry University and had a fulfilling career and small business in computer services. After retirement, Fred was a dedicated AARP volunteer preparing income tax returns for seniors.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam Drennon Dulin; his step-daughter Kelly Killam and her husband, David, and their three children Peyton, Sydnee and Zach Killam of Abilene; his brothers Bill Dulin and wife Dianne of Abilene and Tommy and wife Connie of Midland; his sister Virginia and her husband Sonny of Sacremento, California; two sisters-in-law Cindy Miller of Abilene and Polly Connelly of Georgetown; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
His parents and a brother, Harold Dulin, preceded him in death.
Fred died a happy, well-loved, and Godly man. Even under the worst of circumstances, he was optimistic and positive, an attitude toward life and living that saw him through a cancer diagnosis and two kidney transplants. He shared his zest for optimistic living with his entire family, and especially his grandchildren on whom he doted. "Popsy" always had a ready hug, bubblegum and a tenderly-taught lesson on living a good and responsible life. "He was one of the good guys."
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Christian Homes, P.O. Box 270, Abilene, Texas 79604.
