Frank B. Riggins, 70, of Hawley, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Clearfork Baptist Church in Hawley with Rev. Tom Satterwhite officiating. Burial will follow in the Hawley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Frank was born in Palo Pinto County on July 2, 1938 to Felix W. Riggins and Lillian A. (Potter) Riggins. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1957. While in high school he was a member of the 1955 and 1957 Breckenridge Buckaroos State Football Champs. Frank served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Hawley for the past 42 years, moving from Breckenridge. Frank married Gayle Kramer in Graham, Texas on November 4, 1960. He was a member of Clearfork Baptist Church and a charter member of the first Hawley City Council. Frank worked for Lockheed-Martin as a Machinist for 33 years. He then worked for the City of Abilene Parks Department for five years, and then worked for Thomas Hicks. Frank spent most of his life working as a Machinist, but was a lifetime cowboy and rancher. Frank's parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Kramer Riggins of Hawley; two sons, Greg (Red) Riggins and his wife Leslie, also of Hawley, Scott Riggins and his wife Dina of Abilene; one brother, Carl Riggins and his wife Sandra of Breckenridge; one sister, Margie Warren also of Breckenridge; five grandchildren, Blake, Ashley, Savannah, Zayne and Rowdy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rocky Vinson, Steve Livingston, Joe Mack Stevens, Landon Fine, Jack Sims and Walt Clemmer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas and Darlene Hicks, Virgil and Sharon Ashworth, Kenneth (Sonny) and Dianne Thompson, and Keith Porter. Memorials may be made in honor of Frank Riggins to West Texas Rehab Center, 4601 Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605.
