Frank H. Jones, 78, of Hawley, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Dublin, Texas on May 27, 1932, Frank was the son of Jessie (Cochran) and Samuel Jones. He graduated from Hawley High School and received his bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University and master's degree from the University of Texas, Austin. Mr. Jones taught school and was in school administration for 37 years at Hawley High School, where he touched the lives of many children and guided them to be the best they could be.
Frank married Mary June Downey on June 23, 1956 in Hawley. He was a member of the Hawley United Methodist Church, and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served from 1954 to 1956.
His parents and one brother, Carl Max Jones, preceded Frank in death.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary June Jones of Hawley; son, Randy Jones and wife Kathy of Abilene; daughter Lee Ann Johnson and husband, Craig of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at Hawley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Dominguez and Jerry Klaverweiden officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawley Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
