Frank was born on July 29, 1912, in Cisco, Eastland County, Texas to Dallas Arthur Lee and Samantha Hawkins Hagar. He grew up in Cisco and Ranger, and attended school at Colony. He married Lillie Moore in 1940.
Frank worked for years in the oilfields and later for Weatherby Motor Company, and with his wife owned and operated restaurants in Cross Plains and Brownwood, Texas.
Frank and Lillie with their children were members of Corinth Baptist Church. In their later years they were members of Faith Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his son-in-law, Roy Richardson, and his great-granddaughter, Kelly Drury Burkhart. He was also preceded in death by 7 brothers and 4 sisters; he was the last of the Hagar clan.
Frank is survived by three sons Ronnie Hagar and wife Betty, Billy Hagar and wife Sharon, of Abilene, and Don Hagar, of Mansfield; three daughters, Deanna Slater and husband Allen, of Graham, Gloria Richardson and Jean Baker, of Abilene; 20 grand-children, 39 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
Frank was a caring and selfless family man with a heart as big as the outdoors. He has been a hardworking and God fearing man throughout his life. He loved having a garden and giving the vegetables to his family. His favorite verse in the Bible was John 3:16. He had such deep respect for the way in which his parents raised him and his selfless character showed in the love and care he gave his wife’s parents. No doubt, that is why he is so loved and respected by his own children whom he has always adored. He was an avid sports fan and did not waver in his enthusiasm for his hometown teams, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers.
Memorials may be made in Frank’s honor to the donor’s favorite charity.
