Frances Martin, 86, formerly of Abilene, Texas, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Odessa, Texas. Born in the Hodges Community in Jones County, Texas on February 26, 1929, Frances was the daughter of Ethel (Earnest) and Tom Vaughn. She married John W. Martin on August 8, 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of Brook Hollow Christian Church in Abilene and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of VFW Post 2012, and a life member of the American Ex-POW Association. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Martin, on February 19, 1989; a son, Joe Keith Martin in 2011; a granddaughter, Meiling; her parents; a brother, Donnie Vaughn; and a sister, Marie Vaughn Brown. Frances is survived by two sons, Gary “Pepper” Martin and wife Linda, and Greg Martin and wife Sue, all of Odessa, Texas; four grandchildren, Gary Jr., Greg Jr, Bryan and Shelli; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Tommy Vaughn and wife Kay, and John Michael Vaughn. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. Penny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, at the funeral home.
