Frances Sealy Heslep

Frances Sealy Heslep, 78, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Hendrick Hospice Care. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Putnam Cemetery. Rev. Price Mathieson and Chuck Hutchins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, prior to the graveside service, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Frances was born in McCullough County on July 27, 1933 to Frank and Ida E. (Hamilton) Crow. In 1951, she moved from Blanco to Abilene where she began nursing school at Hendrick Medical Center and received her RN Degree. During her time at Hendrick, she worked for many years on the Orthopedic floor. After retiring from Hendrick in 1982, Frances then worked at Coronado Nursing Home. She was also a caregiver for Dr. Carlton Hodges for a number of years before retiring in 1999. Frances was a member of University Baptist Church in Abilene. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Borden Heslep, Jr. on April 2, 1999. Frances is survived by two sons, Gary Heslep and wife Melanie of Abilene, John Heslep and wife Pamela of Trenton; one daughter, Burgess Thomas and husband Leslie of Abilene; two sisters, Judie Beth Doggette of Summerville, South Carolina, and Wanda Ray Palmer of San Antonio; three nephews, Keith Palmer of Oak Point, Kevin Palmer of San Antonio and Lance Doggette of South Carolina; one niece Brenda Green, also of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Thomas Heslep of Round Rock, Ryan James Heslep of Abilene, and Sean Lucas Heslep of Montgomery Alabama. Other family includes Bob Hutchins, Veriena Braune, their families, and all the extended family who have known her as Mama.
