Frances Rae Bolen, 87, a lifelong resident of Abilene, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Abilene, Texas on September 26, 1924, Frances was the daughter of Emelia Margaret (Krienke) and Raymond Choate. She was the owner of Frances's Salons and Boutique in Abilene for many years.
She was a member of Southside Church of Christ, Abilene Woman's Club, Altrusa, and Bible Study Fellowship, as well as many professional organizations.
Frances married John Meyer on May 31, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1974. She married Frank Bolen on September 24, 1976. He preceded Frances in death on January 13, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nellie Gaye Choate Wills, and one step-daughter, Marcia Goodyear.
Survivors include her son, Buddy Meyer and wife Sandy of Abilene; daughter, Jonnie Rae Meyer Beasley and husband John of Cypress, Texas; step-daughter, Becky Stewart and husband Don of Center, Texas; three brothers, Tommie Lee Choate and Robert Blake "RB" Choate both of Abilene, and Rufus Raymond Choate of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Jacinda Gunter, Mindy McClure, Cicily Warneck, John John Beasley, Amy Shackelford, Nicki Goodyear and Misty Meyer Wilcox; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Dr. Jeff Reid will officiate. A private family graveside service will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
