Floyd Stayton Gee, Jr, 86, passed away on August 17, 2017, in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, from 5:30-7pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be at 11am on Saturday, August 20, at the Hillcrest Church of Christ Chapel, 650 E. Ambler.
Floyd (known as Sonny, Scooter, and Stayton growing up) was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Floyd S. Gee, Sr & Lenora Constance Vandiver Gee on June 22, 1930. He graduated from Longview High School in 1949 and enjoyed going back regularly for reunions. He owned his own Humble Gas Station in Fort Worth where he met the love of his life. He married Nell Crawley on June 17th, 1956 in Quanah, Texas. He soon decided to attend college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine and graduated with a degree in geology in 1961. He worked as a Geological Engineer for Sperry Sun, International, and retired from there after working and living in Texas, Nevada, Alaska and England. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as an airman in the Navy on the USS Randolph. He loved gardening and growing tomatoes, building model airplanes, cooking, and taking care of his wife. He and Nell attended Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nell; his children, Gayle and Bud Turnage of Abilene, Stacy Werner of Tyler, Chip and Kim Gee of Prosper; one sister, Jan Bentson of Sherman; two brothers, Frank Gee of Sherman and David Gee of McKinney; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chip Gee, Ryan Turnage, Stacy Werner, Jaymis Werner, Garon Werner, and Scot McTee.
