Floy Sipe Skelton

Floy Sipe Skelton, 73, an Abilene resident and formerly of Sweetwater, died Monday, August 9, 2010, in Abilene. The daughter of Lucille (Hale) and Noah Sipe, Floy was born on December 24, 1936 in Sweetwater, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1955. In 1960, she moved from Sweetwater, Texas to Abilene. Floy worked for the City of Abilene Water Department in the billing department from 1977 to 1996. Floy married William E. "Bill" Skelton on April 1, 1988 in Abilene. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. A son, Daryl Burleson, and her parents preceded Floy in death. Floy is survived by her husband, Bill Skelton of Abilene; two sons, Marty Burleson and wife, Susie, and Boyd Burleson and wife, Michelle, all of Abilene; stepson, Eddie Skelton and wife, Anita, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; two stepdaughters, Patty Conoley and husband, Jim, and Terry Cook and husband, Paul, all of Arlington, Texas; brother, Buddy Sipe and wife, Carolyn, of Waco; and her twin sister, Joy Newman and husband, Frank, of Sweetwater. Survivors also include 15 grandchildren, Martin Burleson, Justin Burleson, Jared Burleson, Kelsie Burleson; Katie Conoley, Andrew Conoley, Christopher Conoley, Nicholas Conoley, Adam Cook, Ryan Cook, Lauren Cook, Justin Cook; Amy, Allie and Tony; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene with Rev. Stan Allcorn, Rev. H.B. Terry, Jr. and Rev. Buddy Sipe officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Martin Burleson, Justin Burleson, Andrew Conoley, Christopher Conoley, Adam Cook and Ryan Cook.
