Florine Lillian Weed

1914 — September 7, 2006

Florine McHorse Weed Stewart, 92, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 in Abilene. A graveside service, with James Kehr officiating, will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2006 in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. There will be a visitation at the Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10. Florine was born March 4, 1914 in Round Rock, Texas to Georgia and Jim McHorse, and was a resident of Texas for 92 years. She had formerly been employed by Williamsburg Nursing Home and seemed to have a natural ability to care for the elderly and ill. Her take charge attitude and sense of humor always seemed to make things better. Later in life, she worked with Day Care of Abilene as a foster grandparent. Florine was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Florine is survived by one adopted daughter, Jaretta Campbell and her husband Richard of Abilene; one step-son, William Weed and his wife Pam of San Jose, California as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, J.T. Weed in 1978 and Ernest Stewart in 2000; five sisters and three brothers.
