Florida Phillips
Florida Phillips, 93, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2006 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the Clyde Cemetery with Brother David Cason and Brother H.B. Terry officiating.
Florida was born on February 4, 1912 in Santa Anna, Texas to W.H. Phillips and Mary (Cooper) Phillips. She graduated from Denton Valley High School in 1931. Ms. Phillips was employed by the U.S. Times and T.S. Lankford and Son. She was also a seamstress for Rita Barber. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene.
Ms. Phillips was preceded in death by both of her parents, two brothers, Littleton Phillips in 1990 and Hugh Phillips in 2005, and one sister Florence Phillips. She is survived by her cousin Gayla Corley and her husband Charles of Abilene, one sister-in-law Madie Phillips of Abilene, two step-nephews, Dr. Ernest Harmon and his wife Cindy of Kingman, Arizona, and Tom Harmon and his wife Shirley of Windom, Texas; one step-niece, Judy Underwood and her husband Dale of Odessa, Texas; her church family and a host of friends.
