Farren Sadler

Farren Mark Sadler, died Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

Farren was born to Faye and Anne Marie Sadler on May 10,1931, in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He grew up in Arkansas and graduated from the University of the Ozarks, having attended on a full academic scholarship. While at U of O he met and married Grace Elizabeth Pourron in 1952. Upon the completion of his graduate studies at the University of Arkansas, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. Following his military service, which included tours of Guam, Farren moved his young family in 1956 to Abilene where he and Grace raised five children.

Farren taught business and accounting at McMurry College and Hardin-Simmons University for a total of 30 years. Farren was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Ruling Elder, and active on several Abilene civic committees and commissions.

Farren was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; son, Andrew John Sadler; parents; and brother-in-law Charles Templin. He is survived by his children Mark Alan Sadler of Abilene, Elizabeth Lynn Sisk (Rob) of Fort Worth, Timothy James Sadler (Melva) of Corsicana, Susan Sadler Gist of Fort Worth, brother James Sadler of Round Rock, sister-in-law Gloria Musgrave Sadler of Round Rock and sister-in-law Katherine Templin of San Antonio. He is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A private family service will be held to commemorate Farren's life and legacy.
