Evelyn Vineyard Kirby, 91, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Tulia, Texas on August 16, 1927, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Leonard Evans (L.E.) and Vinnie Leah (Ryan) Vineyard. A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, she was also very active with the United Methodist Women. She was a financial secretary for many years, having worked at an automobile dealership and churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Wallace H. Kirby in 1998, and sister, Linnie Andrus.
Evelyn is survived ty three daughters, Carolyn Ann Hefner and husband Bob of Sweetwater, Pat Preston and husband Dub of Abilene, and Jan Hoover and husband Mike of Slaton; one sister, Irene Trotter of Amarillo; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon Hefner and Kacey, Darron Hefner and Megan, Melissa Andrews and Scott, Kyla Attebury and Chris, and Ashleigh Hoover; and nine great-grandchildren, as well as one foster great-grandchild.
Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home Funeral, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road where she will be in state. The funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Dr. Clifford S. Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Hefner, Darron Hefner, Scott Andrews, Chris Attebury, Bob Hefner, Dub Preston and Mike Hoover.
Memorials may be made to the McMurry University Student Scholarship Fund.
