Eveleta "Leta" Cooper-Brown of Terrell, Texas, better known as "Nanny," passed into heaven June 7, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Leta was born January 28, 1929, to Louis and Delilah Cooper in Abilene. She grew up in Abilene, attending Abilene schools until she met and married Roy Miller Brown, Jr., in October of 1946; he was a motorcycle police officer in Abilene for many years. She worked various jobs in Abilene, her last job was as Manager of Allsup's convenience stores. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Some two years after the passing of her husband on May 9, 1982, she moved to Terrell, Texas, where she remained until joining her husband in heaven this past Friday evening. Her life resolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her family and many friends at Lake Tawakoni, boating, fishing, and enjoying her family.
She was preceded in death by a sister Goldalee at age two, and three brother's; Douglas Cooper of Abilene, Billy Joe Cooper of Oklahoma City, and Jackie Cooper of Tye.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Wayne Brown of Terrell, Stanley Brown, and his spouse Betsy of Wills Point, two daughters, Carolyn Voyles and her spouse Erbie of Terrell, and Debbie Garza and her spouse J.R. Of Wills Point, eight grandchildren Melissa Bryant-Young, Brandon Harris, Justin Voyles, Jonathan Brown, Cameron Ashby, Mandy McCarty, Chris McCarty, Michael McCarty, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sweet little dog, “Lexus”. We ALL love you, Nanny, and will miss you so much!
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Brown, Chris McCarty, William Robertson, Chris Ashby, Allen Pirtle and Chad Young.
