Ernest Edmond, 89, passed from this earth to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at a local hospital with family and friends at his side. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A celebration of Earnest's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Faith Deliverance Community Church, 5501 Highway 277 South. His son, Rev. Danny K. Edmond, will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
November 17, 1919 Ernest was born in Cason, Texas to Jim and Estella (Traylor) Edmond. He moved from Cason to Abilene in 1946. He first worked for Oil Transport Company and then for Childs Ready Mix Concrete. Ernest married Annie Mae White in Abilene on June 20, 1956. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2007. Ernest was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Abilene for over 50 years.
Those that preceded Ernest in death were his parents, Jim and Estella Edmond; his beloved wife, Annie Mae Edmond; five brothers, James, Lee, Goree, Buford and Hughie Edmond; one sister, Ola Edmond and one daughter, Shirley Ann Burnett.
Ernest leaves behind to cherish his memory six sons, Norris Edmond of Dallas, Billy Gene Thomas of Abilene, James Thomas also of Abilene, Melvin Edmond of Cason, Danny K. Edmond of Haskell, and Patrick Glen Edmond of Manor; one daughter, Alice Faye Gobert of Abilene; one brother, Rufus Bo Edmond also of Abilene; two sisters, Wortha Mae Woods and Betty Louise Jenkins, both of Abilene. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
