Eric Hines, 59, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in the Coleman City Cemetery.
Eric was born on September 23, 1946 in Radford, Virginia to Edwin Franklin Hines and Julia (Smith) Hines. He served in the United States Air Force as security police during Vietnam. He was stationed in Japan. On February 14, 1981, Eric married Vickie Lynn Shamblin in Abilene.
Eric lived in Franklin, Tennessee for 16 years, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina for 5 ½ years and Granbury, Texas for one year. In July of 2005, Eric returned to Abilene, where he previously lived for 15 years. While living in South Carolina, he was the general manager for McDaniel's Acura Dealership of Charlston. Mr. Hines was a Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Granbury.
Eric is survived by his parents, Ed and Julia Hines of Fort Collins, Colorado; his wife Vickie Hines of Abilene; two sons, Mike Hines and his wife Lee Ann of Clyde, Billy Hines and his wife Al Anna of Tuscola; one step-son Jason Sterling of Abilene; one brother Jim Hines and his wife Karen, of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sisters, Judy and Ray Bruce of California, and Amy and Bob Jones of Canada; four grandsons, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
