Mina Jerden, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the age of 92. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at Elmwood Memorial Park, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mina was born to Joe C. Davis and Viva (Wood) Davis in Abilene, Texas on March 17, 1915. She grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. In 1936, Mina married Buster Jerden. She was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church.
Greg Nuckols, Randy Brooks, Jeff McCown, Lance Wells, David Butler, John Fritsche, Will Hughes and Wayne Davis will serve as pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Mina is survived by six daughters, Barbara McCown and her husband Mickey of Midland, Janet Brooks and her husband James of Abilene, Linda Nuckols also of Abilene, Karon Wells and her husband Donnie of Wylie, Laverne Rhodes and her husband Randy of Corpus Christi, and Susie Jerden and her husband David Collazo of Abilene; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601, the West Texas Rehab Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605, the Presbyterian Medical Mission, 302 Medical Drive, 79601or to the donor's favorite charity.
