Emma Gene Gore, 98, a longtime resident of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Farmersville, Texas.
Born in Taylor County, Texas on December 30, 1918, she was the daughter of Annie (Brookshire) and Claude Gilbreth. Emma Gene was a 1932 graduate of Abilene High School and retired after a 30-year career as a supervisor with Southwestern Bell. Since 1962, Emma Gene had been a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Abilene where she was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gore, on April 24, 2004; her parents; a sister, Dorothy Gore; and a brother, Rankin Gilbreth.
Emma Gene is survived by her son, John Gore and wife Susan of Abilene; Paula Uland and husband John of Farmersville, Texas; two grandchildren, John Wylie Gore, Jr. and wife Paige, and Morgan Gore; and two great-grandchildren, Tate Gore and Beau Gore.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 31st, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1st, in Potosi Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Gregory officiating.
