Emma Nell Bartlett died peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2007, truly knowing and believing that God is Love. Private family services were held Saturday, July 7 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, with Dorsie Wallace, Christian Science Practitioner officiating. Burial followed in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Emmy was born in Cleburne, Texas, and attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton and Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Emma Nell was Band Sweetheart at TCU. She worked at Magnolia Oil Company and Braniff Airlines in Fort Worth. She was also a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married E. Lynn Bartlett in 1944. He preceded her in death. They moved to Abilene in 1998 and were members of the Christian Science Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Bob and Susan Bartlett; and five grandchildren, Rebecca Bartlett, Sarah and husband Mark Kiger, Kathryn Bartlett, Tommy Bartlett and Christopher Bartlett. The family wishes to thank Hendrick Hospice Care, Sears Methodist Nursing Home, Robert Hamil and Kent Anderson with the Hamil Family Funeral Home, and all neighbors and friends for their kindness and care. Pallbearers were Tommy Bartlett, Christopher Bartlett, Mark Kiger, Matt McCallister, Lew Carter, and Bob Bartlett. Memorials may be made to the Christian Science Church, 1201 S. Pioneer Drive, Abilene, Texas, 79605; Hendrick Hospice Care, 1900 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas, 79603; or Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal Choir Fund, 602 Meander Street, Abilene, Texas 79602. Emmy was a genteel Southern lady who was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her sweet smile and positive attitude.
