Emily Zorn Martin

Emily Zorn Martin, 87, of Abilene, died peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Care Inn Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Emily was born the daughter of Isaac Monroe Zorn and Mollie Lee (Williams) Zorn on June 16, 1924 in Beckville, Texas. She worked for JC Penny for many years in Abilene, Arlington and Garland. Emily was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene since 1942. She had been very involved in the Missionary Society of the Nazarene Church and had received the Christian Service Training Award. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Paul Reginald Martin in 1993. Emily is survived by one son, Joe Martin and wife Sandra of Abilene; two daughters, Patricia Martin Smith also of Abilene, and Rebekah Mize of Irving; three brothers, Burton Zorn and wife Tess of Beckville; David Zorn and wife Carroll of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Roger Zorn and wife Bernice of Sparks, Nevada; four grandchildren, Emily Seckler, Jonathan Mize, Heather Cardenas and Beau Martin; four great-grandchildren, Kane Seckler, Mackenzie Cardenas, Kolton Cardenas and Max Mize; as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made in honor of Emily Martin to the Alzheimer's Association, Hendrick Hospice Care or to the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
