Emelinda "Emmie" Laviña Gohlmann, of Tye, died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the age 48, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services, with Pastor Rudy Fambrough officiating, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Emmie was born August 21, 1959 in Banlic, Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines to Martiniaño Laviña and Anita (Vadenia) Laviña. She married Paul S. Gohlmann July 2, 1979 in Angeles City in the Philippines and moved to Abilene in October of 1981. Several years ago she worked at Walls Factory Outlet in Merkel. Emmie was very active in the Bowling Leagues at Abilene Bowling Lanes. She enjoyed camping, cooking, bowling, and spending time with her family and her beloved granddaughter, Sonya Deann Gohlmann-Mauldin, who was the joy of her life. Emmie was Catholic.
Her parents preceded her in death. Emmie is survived by her husband, Paul S. Gohlmann, of Tye; two sons, Paul S. Gohlmann, Jr. and Stephen A. Gohlmann, both of Tye; one brother, Larry, of the Philippines; four sisters, Narsing, Lilly, Lette, and Lolly, all of the Philippines; her granddaughter, Sonya, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Victor Hirsch, Pat, the 7th floor oncology nursing staff, the nursing staff of Hendrick Hospice Care, and special thanks to the Hospice volunteer singers and the Hospice Chaplain, E.J. Chafin.
