Elsie Leona Israel

Elsie Leona McLeod Israel of Abilene, Texas passed away on May 29, 2021 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday June 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday June 5, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial at Albany Cemetery in Albany, Texas 2:30 p.m. Saturday June 5th. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Elsie was born in Sharpe County, Arkansas to Jasper Newton McLeod and Nancy Ann Johnson McLeod on September 6, 1920. She attended school at Fairview Schools outside of Cave City. She married Carl R. Israel May 13, 1945 in Albany Texas. Elsie was a homemaker until her children were grown. At that time she began working at Cloth World in Abilene, Texas and worked there for 25 years. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church having joined in October 1961 and was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents Jasper and Nancy McLeod and 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Elsie is survived by children Carla Israel Draper, Brenda (Jim) Miller and Gary (Judy) Israel. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Scott Miller, Duane (Sheri) Pruitt, Terry (Marsha) Miller, Gari' (Bobby) Horton, Charla (Brad) Donahy and Carl (Krysti) Israel and 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Scott Miller, Duane Pruitt, Terry Miller, Carl Israel, Bobby Horton and Brad Donahy. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or United Methodist Food Pantry. The family of Elsie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at Windcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center for their kind and compassionate care, especially the staff on Unit 2.
