Elma Sinclair, 88, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2005 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 7, 2005 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends prior to service time from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery. Elma was born January 30, 1917 in New Mexico to Alfred and Martha Kerns. She was a retired nurse who had worked at Hendrick Hospital and Dyess Air Force Base. Elma was a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, where she was involved in the intercessory prayer group and also participated in the Thursday morning Bible Study. Among her other interests, she volunteered in the Grand Friends Program at Grant Elementary School and New Hope in the Rockies. She was known as the "Bag Lady" and enjoyed being known as a "Minnie Pearl" impersonator. She was married to Raymond Sinclair in 1935 in Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, by her daughter, Beth Dunlop, and five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Breckon and her husband Dick, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one granddaughter, Melissa Benedict and her husband Ron of Raleigh, North Carolina, three grandsons, Rick Breckon, Chad Dunlop, Chuck Jr. and his wife Lori, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Tim and Hannah Breckon and Jordyn Dunlop; two brothers, Weldon Kerns and his wife Joyce, of Arizona, and Ronald Kerns and his wife Avis of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
