God called one of his saints home on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the age of 65.
Ella was born on June 10, 1943 to the late C. P. and Lora Gowens in Crosbyton, Texas. She married the love of her life, Floyd Rogers, on December 13, 1958, in Crosbyton. The two shared 50 wonderful years together.
Ella was an active member of the Eastern Star and Cross Country Emmaus, as well as Ft. Phantom Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Ella is survived by her husband, Floyd; one son, Derral Rogers of Nugent, and two daughters, Darlia Wright and husband, Perry, of Haskell, and Deneice Wright and husband, Darrin, of Abilene. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Nicole Rogers of Lubbock, Lora, Snowbel, Curtis and Dylan Wright of Haskell, and Katelyn and Ethan Wright of Abilene; two great-grandchildren, Sanara and Ashton Hayes; a special "sister" Joyce Rogers of Slaton; two brothers and one sister.
A special "thank you" to the staff of Sears Methodist Center and Sears Hospice for their tender care of our mother.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ft. Phantom Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Dickson, Rev. Mike Bradford and Rev. David Douglass officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Phantom Hill Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
