Elizabeth Patton Elizabeth Patton, 91 of Abilene, formerly of Rotan, died on January 27, 2006 in Abilene. Visitation is 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, conducted by Deacon Michael Kenny. The funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Monsignor Fred Nawarskas assisted by Deacon Mitchell Abdallah. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan conducted by Father Timothy Schwertner and Deacon Mitchell Abdallah. Elizabeth Grove was born February 22, 1914, in Mineral Wells, Texas to Myrtle and Joel Cranford. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1929 and graduated cum laude with a degree in Music Education from The College of Industrial Arts (now Texas Women's University). She taught public school music in the Hull-Daisetta and Mineral Wells school systems. She married Edward Nash Patton on November 5, 1938, and moved to Rotan. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rotan. Ed preceded her in death on June 16, 1971. She was active in community affairs as a room mother, a Cub Scout den mother, a Little League mom, a member of several bridge clubs, and a Fisher County Hospital Pink Lady. She also played the organ at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Her hobbies included traveling, needlework, and collecting Hummel figurines. In 2000 she moved to the Royal Estates in Abilene. Elizabeth is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Grove (Betty) Patton Abdallah and husband, Deacon Mitchell of Miami, Florida; Edward Nash Patton, Jr. and wife Sue of Abilene; Thomas David Patton and wife Patricia of Garland, Texas; and Robert Michael Patton and wife Sue of Abilene. Elizabeth had eleven grandchildren—Monica Andrews and husband Steve of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Michelle Hidalgo and husband Orlando of Plantation, Florida; Elena Abdallah and husband John Herr of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Mary Elizabeth Patton of Fort Worth, Texas; Mark Joseph and Edward Nash Patton III who both preceded her in death; Major David Patton, Jr. and wife Karen of Harker Heights, Texas; Chris Patton and wife Debbie of Richmond, Texas; John Patton and wife Tiffane of Webster, Texas; Stephen Patton and wife Tracy of Humble, Texas; and Brent Freeman of Jacksonville, Florida. Elizabeth had 14 great grandchildren—Matthew and Jack Andrews; Elizabella Hidalgo; Hazel and Pema Herr; Katie, Missy, DJ, and Janie Patton; Christopher and Michael Patton; Jessica and John Patton; and Nash Patton. Pallbearers are Chris Patton, John Patton, Stephen Patton, Brent Freeman, Steve Andrews, Bill Day, and Tim Murray. Honorary pallbearers are Maj. David Patton and Joe Martinez. Memorials can be made to the Ed Patton Memorial Park Capital Improvement Fund c/o First National Bank of Rotan, PO Drawer D, Rotan, Texas 79546.
