Born in Sacramento, California, on June 2, 1931, Roxy was the daughter of Elizabeth J. (Buford) and George R. Strickley, and graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento in 1949. On March 3, 1956, she married Darwin Dale Loomis in Sacramento.
Roxy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, the true definition of a virtuous woman in Proverbs: 31. "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also." Roxy's children call her blessed. "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." She loved her family so much. She loved the Lord with all her heart and mind and strength, and she wanted her family to know the Lord. She was generous, caring, kind and gentle, and gave so much to so many. We have hope and rejoice knowing we will see her again one day. "Mom, we love you forever."
Roxy was a member of New Hope Church, and a loan officer for 18 years at Dyess Federal Credit Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Loomis, on October 23, 2012; her parents; and one brother, Frank Strickley.
Roxy is survived by three sons and their spouses, Richard Eugene Loomis and Darlene of Abilene, Larry R. Loomis and Marion of Fort Worth, and Donald D. Loomis and Robbie of Abilene; two daughters, Renada Sabine Vera of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Shari L. Jay and husband Paul of Longview, Texas; a brother, Bruce R. Strickley of Sacramento; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her three sons, Richard Loomis, Larry Loomis and Donald Loomis, and grandsons, Jamie Jay, Brian Loomis and Chance Loomis.
