Elizabeth "Betsy" Gandy Duncan died peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Abilene, TX at the age of 91. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at 10:30 am at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest at 602 Meander with the Rev. Luke Back officiating. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium. All are welcome to attend. Betsy is survived by her two daughters, Catherine C. Duncan of Ruidoso, NM and Anne D. Powers with her husband, Gordon Powers of Abilene, TX. She is also survived by her two grandchildren David Duncan Powers of Austin, TX and Mary Alden Powers of Abilene. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barr Duncan, III and one daughter, Pamela A. Weaver. Betsy Duncan was born on June 10, 1926 in San Antonio, TX to Col. Charles Lewis Gandy and Merry Alden Bailey Gandy. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Radio, Television & Film. She married Bill Duncan on June 12, 1948 in Okmulgee, OK. After moving to Abilene, Bill began his career as an independent geologist. More than anything, Betsy loved to play Contract Bridge and was one of the original Life Masters in Abilene. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rescue the Animals, Church of the Heavenly Rest or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
