Eileen Dunne

• Eileen Dunne, 79 of Abilene TX died on 10/14/23 surrounded by her family.

She was born March 24th, 1944, in Rockville Centre, NY to Tom and Mary Luby. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, double majored in History and Education, from St. John's University where she met and married her husband Brian J. Dunne on June 11th, 1966.

As an Air Force wife she travelled the Globe across 11 assignments dragging cats, dogs and children behind her with remarkable aplomb and gritty determination. Eileen made lifelong friends with whom she shared fantastic stories of mutual mishaps in motherhood. While many saw her as classy and cool-headed her children knew her to be often irreverent with a quick wit and a turn for sarcasm.

She was an avid reader who in any quiet moment could be found curled up with her dog, book in hand and a steaming cup of tea beside her.

She completed her Masters in Library Sciences at the University of Hawaii before joining the AISD as a school librarian at both Crockett Elementary and later Cooper High before ending her 27 year career as the Manager of Library Services for AISD.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 57 years Brian Dunne, and her children Michael, Stephen and Constance; daughter-in-law Kristie (spouse of Stephen) and grandson Troy.

Her viewing will be on Tuesday October 17, 2023 at Hamil Family Funeral Home from 6-8pm

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00am, all faiths welcome.
