Edward “Ed” James Morrell, 46, of Freeport, Long Island passed away on January 9, 2021 in Abilene, Texas.
Come and go visitation will be from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Cryptside service with inurnment will be held at 11 am Monday, January 18, 2021, at Elmwood Memorial Park with Deacon Victor Ramirez of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Edward James Morrell was born in Manhattan, New York to Florence and Edward Morrell on November 5, 1974. He went to school in Freeport, Long Island. He graduated from Kellenberg Memorial High School and subsequently the College of Aeronautics. He married Leslie Ann Rodriguez on August 21, 1999, in Baldwin, New York. He worked as an aircraft maintenance supervisor for Revenue for 15 years. He was the executive director for the non-profit Kicks for Kids.
Ed is survived by his spouse, Leslie Ann, and two children, Maya Soleil and Jameson Edward.
The family of Edward Morrell wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Drs. Vega, Mahoney, and Trammell for lovingly and graciously treating him, praying, and never losing hope for healing; as well as Hendrick Hospice for providing care and comfort to him in his last days. Lastly, the family thanks friends, family, Hardin Simmons University staff and faculty for their support and love, and the Team Chip martial arts organization for being the extended family to the Morrells in their time of bereavement.
