Edith “ET” Ann Howard, age 80, passed away on December 1, 2021, in Abilene, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, December 17, 2021, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX, 79606. A committal service will follow at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene at 2:00 pm.
Edith was born in Livingston, Tennessee to father Shirley Brooks and mother Ruby (Brooks) Davis on May 4, 1941. She married the love of her life, Leon R. Howard, on January 21, 1984 and spent 28 years happily married until his passing in 2012. Edith was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an avid bowler for many years at the former Whitewood Lanes, and she loved sports of all kinds. She had a passion for playing bingo, knitting, and crocheting as well. She had a big heart and a great love for animals. Her warmth and love will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon, son Richard Carr, granddaughter Andrea Allender, sisters Barbara Baker and Linda Jane Davis-Wheeler, and brothers Sam and Bill Brooks.
Edith is survived by her daughters Patricia A. Allender, Kathryn B. Dunkel-Carr, and Stephanie A. Casper; son Rocky A. Carr; stepson Robert L. Howard as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
