Eddie Lee Rose, 74, of Abilene, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at an Abilene medical center.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas, with Rev. Louis Johnson officiating.
The son of the late Gracie Rose and Eddie L. Fordray, he was born on June 2, 1934 in Portlock, Virginia. After graduation from high school, Eddie served in the U.S. Navy for three years prior to his career in the U. S. Air Force. He worked in Civil Service after retiring from the USAF. He was an aircraft mechanic.
Having lived in Hampton, Virginia for many years, Eddie moved to Abilene in April of 2009. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherri Johnson and husband, Louis, of Abilene; adopted daughter, Sherry Levitsky of Hampton, Virginia; sons, Eddie Rose, Jr. of Plano, and David Rose of Amarillo; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
