Earl J. Lunn died January 3, 2015, at the age of 84. He was born October 14, 1930, near Avoca, Texas, to Linus & Lillie Lunn. He grew up in the community of Ericksdahl and was confirmed in the Lutheran church in 1946. He graduated from Lueders High School in 1949, after which he moved to Abilene and worked for the Featherlite Company until he retired. He always participated in sports, playing football in high school and was the pitcher for several softball teams until his 30’s. He enjoyed bowling, pool, dominoes, and liked to water ski. During his life he was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. A natural dancer, he danced many a waltz and two-step. He was especially fond of animals.
He was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and made friends all over the area through his work. He married Wanda Cox in 1951 and they had one daughter, Melody. He later married Wilma Berry and cared for her at home while she battled Alzheimer’s disease, until her death in 1992.
Earl is survived by his daughter, Melody and husband Jim Snow, of Austin, Texas; granddaughters, Danielle of Chicago, Illinois; Kirsten of Austin, Texas and Heather of Bryan, Texas; sister, Ethel Bounds of Stamford, Texas; one nephew, Mark Bounds and wife, Tina, of Gunter Texas, and several cousins.
Earl chose to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Church near Avoca at 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015. Pastor, Teresa Davis will be officiating. Visitation will be immediately after the service at the church. Cremation arrangements were by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
