E. B. Westmoreland, 75, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at an Abilene medical center.
The son of the late Lura (Hargis) and Elijah Blalock Westmoreland, he was born on December 5, 1934 in Woodlawn, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High School, attended Texas Tech University, and graduated from Howard Payne University, where he was founder of Delta Omicron Sigma Fraternity.
He married Anita Youngblood on September 22, 1960 in Galveston.
He had lived in Houston where he served as finance manager of River Oaks Baptist Church. Mr. Westmoreland was a patriot who loved his country. He loved history, especially Abilene history.
His stepfather, Stuart Wagstaff, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Westmoreland of Abilene; sons, Stuart J. Westmoreland of Abilene and Robert Joe Westmoreland and wife, Lynn, of Heath, Texas; daughter, Lura Sue Barr and husband, Jim, of Abilene; and eight grandchildren, Austin, Brittany, Chelsea, Sydney, Cameron, Colin, Colton and Caden.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
