Dudley Eugene Mitchell

Dudley E. Mitchell, 75, of Abilene, passed away on October 19, 2018 in Abilene.

   Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, October 21, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

   Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Monday, October 22, 2018 at Wylie Baptist Church (6097 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79606) with Brother Mike Harkrider, officiating.  Services are under direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.

   Dudley was born in Ballinger, TX to James Marion and Lucille Carlton Mitchell on May 31, 1943.  He went to school at Andrews.  He graduated from Andrews High School where he played football and ran track.   He married Linda L. Inman on December 12, 1963 in Odessa, TX.  He worked as a materials specialist for Occidental Petroleum for 50 years.  He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, The Texas Rangers, The Dallas Cowboys, and watching his grandson Justin play football, his granddaughters Jalynn dance, Cashlin play softball and Caitlin riding her horses. 

   Dudley was preceded in death by his mother and father James and Lucille Mitchell and one brother Dwain Mitchell.

   Dudley is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda L. Mitchell of Abilene, daughter and son in law Natalie and Harlan Nance of Stephenville, daughter and son in law Nicole and Duane Farr of Abilene.  One sister and brother in law Montrella and Bill Schiffbauer of Seabrook, two brothers John Mitchell of Lake Brownwood, and Mark Mitchell of Pearland.  One grandson Justin Nance and granddaughters Jalynn Nance Baldridge & Husband Patrick Baldridge, Cashlin Farr and Caitlin Farr. Sister in laws, Jan & husband Larry Hensley, Billie Jo & husband Don Galvin, Connie Mitchell. Numerous nieces and nephews.

   Memorial may be given to: Hendricks Hospice Care, West Texas Rehab Abilene and Taylor County 4-H
