Doyle Roberts

Doyle Glyn Roberts, 89 of Abilene, passed away on March 29, 2023, of natural causes in Abilene.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 am on April 4, 2023, at Elliott Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery Garden of Prayer area.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 on April 4, 2023, at Aldersgate Abilene Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 1:00 with Dustin Wilhite officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Doyle was born in Fisk, Texas of Coleman County to Granvil Johnney Roberts and Ruby Josephine Yates. Doyle graduated from Mozelle High School in 1951 where he was an overall athlete and enjoyed all athletic activities throughout his life. After HS graduation Doyle attended McMurry College and Hardin-Simmons University.

He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Willeen Feeler, March 11, 1951, in the Methodist church located in Voss, Texas. Doyle worked as a machinist and Engineer for Lockheed Martin for 32 years. He has been a faithful member of the Methodist Church for many years.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Candice Ann Roberts.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, daughter Becky Roberts (Wendell) Decker of Slaton, granddaughter Ashleigh Decker Jones and boyfriend Matt Rhea of Dallas, Texas and great grandson Austin Jones of Dallas, Texas, a sister Joyce Lee Brown of Amarillo, 3 nephews and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be given to McMurry University Athletic Department or Aldersgate Abilene Methodist Church Children's Ministry.
