Ann Cox Menefee, 98, died early April 19, 2018, in Mesa Springs Health Care Center.
Ann was born September 8, 1919, in Bertram, Texas, to Enoch Brady (E.B.) Cox and Mary Lena (King) Cox, who lived in Abilene for many years. Ann graduated from Abilene High School and McMurry College, now McMurry University. After teaching school for a few years, she married Lawrence Menefee in June of 1942. Lawrence was a Methodist minister in the New Mexico Conference, covering West Texas and New Mexico until his death in 1982.
Ann was a long-time member of United Methodist Women. Her last church membership was with Epworth United Methodist in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and her brother, Dr. Brady Cox of Abilene. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Keith Huckabay of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Lawrence and Dona Menefee of Lake Jackson, Texas, her niece, Beckie Cox and nephew and wife, Tom and Jo Cox all of Abilene. Ann has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mesa Springs for their wonderful care of Ann in her recent years, and especially would extend heartfelt thanks to her niece, Beckie Cox, who so faithfully took care of Ann's every need, large and small, for so many years.
