Dorothy Ann Wilson, 81, of Abilene, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in Abilene.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in Elmwood Memorial Park with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at First Methodist Abilene with Rev. Scott Seymour officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Dorothy was born on December 23, 1941, in Childress, Texas to Annie Laurie (Wright) and James Curtis Terry. She graduated from Paducah High School in 1961 and attended McMurry University receiving her degree in education in 1964. Dorothy married the love of her life Joe Wilson on June 22, 1963, having just celebrated 60 years of marriage. She was born to be an elementary school teacher. She taught at Ft. Hood Army Base, Floydada Schools, and retired in 2000 from the Abilene Independent School District.
Dorothy loved Jesus and her church – First Methodist Abilene. They hosted a home group every Wednesday. She made it a point to read her Bible daily and walk a faithful Christian life. She was a loving and nurturing mother and wife who often laughed made everyone feel important.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and James Terry, and her brother, Rev. Jim Terry.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Joe Wilson of Abilene; sons, Kyle Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kris Wilson and wife Tina of Abilene; brother Mike Terry and wife Darlene of Snyder; sister-in-law, Marlene Terry of Lubbock; grandchildren, Lane and Kate Wilson of Abilene; Dorothy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended family members whom she dearly loved.
