Dorothy Helen Tomsyck, 91, of Abilene, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 29, 2016.
Visitation followed by the rosary will be on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, Sept 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, with Father Fred Nawarskas of?ciating.
Dorothy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 24, 1925, and graduated from high school in Milwaukee. She worked for the City of Milwaukee for 10 years before attending Viterbo University, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She graduated with a degree in Medical Record Administration. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy worked as a medical record administrator for over 25 years.
She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Share Group. Dorothy participated in the Medical Mission and volunteered at St Vincent De Paul Thrift Store. Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. She was a big football fan and especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Helen Tomsyck, and younger brother, Father Richard Tomsyck. She is survived by her niece Chris Shadley of Abilene, family and friends.
Memorials may be given to St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, 1241 Walnut, Abilene, TX 79601.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Silver Springs Nursing Home for the exceptional care given by their wonderful nurses and nursing aides along with the Hospice Care at Hendrick Medical Center and all the amazing nursing staff who took such loving care of Dorothy in her ?nal days.
