Dorothy Jacqueline Eaton Scott, 86, of Abilene, TX, passed away on January 10, 2013 in Abilene.
Viewing will be from 8am-8pm on Tuesday, January 15 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 16 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Phil Ware of Southern Hills Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Phantom Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy (Dot) was born in Farwell, TX to Jake and Kate Eaton on July 10, 1926. She went to Clyde High School. She married Perry Scott Sr. on March 24, 1946 in Abilene, TX. She worked for the Civil Service Commission under the Department of Air Force for more than 20 years. She and Perry were loyal members of Woodlawn Church of Christ. The most important part of Dot's life was her family and friends. Her two sons and two granddaughters, in particular, were the light of her life. She also was a devoted wife, as she was right by Perry's side as he served in the Air Force. They lived in places such as New York, Florida, and Alaska before returning to Abilene.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Jake and Kate Eaton, husband Perry Scott Sr., her brother Kenneth Eaton, and her son Matt Scott.
Dorothy is survived by her son Perry Scott Jr. and wife Leanne of Abilene, daughter-in-law Patricia Scott of Buffalo Gap, brother Ray Eaton of Midland, sister Jean Ford of New Mexico, granddaughter Kathryn Gilreath and husband Scott of Abilene, granddaughter Caroline Scott of Dallas, and great-grandson Wyatt Gilreath of Abilene.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gilreath, Jack Gilreath, Barry Cross, Kenny Buchanan, Steve Carrigan, and Lindell Crow.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation. The Scott family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Hospice of the Big Country and to Southern Meadows where Dorothy lived for the past five years.
