Dorothy Peugh, 93, died Monday, July 27, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
The daughter of Betty (Hildreth) and Arch Newsom, Dorothy was born on October 26, 1921 in Purley, Texas. She was reared in Franklin County, Texas, where she attended school public schools and graduated from high school. Dorothy received a degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, and her nurses training at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. For 42 years she lived in Odessa, Texas, retiring from Ector County ISD where she was a school nurse for many years.
While living in Odessa, she and her husband were active members of Belmont Baptist Church. After moving in 1988 from Odessa to Abilene, they were members of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Dorothy married Pete Peugh on August 1, 1947. In 2006 he preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters Alice, Virginia and Syble; and brothers Carl, T.C., Jack, Bob and Rex.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Laura Donaway and husband Duane of Abilene; one sister, Nell King of Kilgore, Texas; two grandchildren, Corey Donaway and wife Rachel, and Kalli Donaway and fiancé Chris Clement; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Reid, Brother Jack Ridlehoover and Rev. Stan Allcorn will officiate.
