Dorothy Lee Mayfield, 76, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at a local hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
March 25, 1930, Dorothy was born the daughter of William Walter Franklin Roseberry and Odie (Hart) Roseberry in Anson, Texas. She lived in the Big Country area all of her life, including Anson and Hamlin. July 29, 1945, Dorothy married Harvey Louis Mayfield in Anson, Texas. The couple made Abilene their home in 1952. A loving caregiver of people, Dorothy's special love was returned from all those whose lives she touched. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She will truly be missed by all.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, Walter and Odie Roseberry, one brother, Perry Roseberry, and one sister, Elsie Fuller. She is survived by her husband, Harvey Mayfield of Abilene; two daughters, Lisa Lemond and her husband Greg of Abilene and Diane Maryfield and her husband Bryce of San Antonio; four brothers, Doyle and Vernon Roseberry both of Azle, Texas, Kinney Roseberry of Kennedale, Texas and Jack Roseberry of Hurst, Texas; three sisters, Larue Burleson and Janette Martin, both of Fort Worth, Texas and Annette Herrige of Athens, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Trey Maryfield and his wife Kim, Shannon Maryfield-Lamb, Christy Hernandez and her husband Roberto, and Chad Lemond; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Lamb and Brenden Hernandez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roberto Hernandez, Chad Lemond, Trey Maryfield, J.J. Perez, Bobby Brown and Chuck Lawson will serve as pallbearers.
