Dorothy Hopkins, 95 of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Goldthwaite, TX. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 12th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 13th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donny Harbers officiating. Burial will follow in the Iberis Cemetery. Dorothy was born in Abilene to Walter & Ophelia Edwards on September 14, 1920. She attended school in Strawn. She married Jesse “Howard” Hopkins on December 25, 1938 in Strawn. They spent most of their married life in El Paso. In later years she was an artist known for her beautiful rose paintings and desert scenes. She was a member of the Wylie Baptist Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Howard, and two sons; John & Robert. Dorothy is survived by three sisters; Lettie Frymire of Abilene, Barbara Walgren of Ft. Worth & Sherry Thompson of Austin. Four grandchildren; Robert Hopkins, Ann Cliburn, Denise Campbell & Terri Langdon. Twelve great-grandchildren & fifteen great-great-grandchildren. In-lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Wylie Baptist Church of Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
