Dorothy L. Guthrie Vinson 83, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at an Abilene medical center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The daughter of Ellen Ardelia (Story) and Darwin B. Guthrie, Dorothy was born on June 19, 1927 in Coleman, Texas, and in the late 1930's moved with her family to Abilene. She was a 1945 graduate of Abilene High School and also graduated from Draughn's Business College. Dorothy married Billy Vinson on August 15, 1953 in Abilene. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Vinson, in 1999, and her parents. Dorothy is survived by two uncles and several cousins. Carroll Rhodes, Kerry Williams, Richard Williams, Arvid Rhodes, Andrew Rhodes and Roy Lee Fuller will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene, TX 79606.
