Dorothy Mae Gray

1925 — January 17, 2019

Dorothy “Dot“ Watson Gray, 93, formerly of Odessa, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Odessa Bible Church, 3901 Penbrook Street in Odessa, with Bob Thayer, pastor, officiating.   Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.

Dorothy was born on August 2, 1925 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the late Royce and Mayflower (Adams) Watson.  She and Ira Gray were married on December 30, 1949 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2016. Dorothy worked as a realtor in Odessa.  She was a charter member of the Odessa Bible Church where she taught Sunday school and served on the Benevolence Committee for many years.   She led Good News Clubs and was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship and Awanas for over 50 years.  She enjoyed crafting, sewing, traveling, reading and water aerobics. She and Ira moved to Abilene in 2004 from Odessa.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon Royce and Melvin “Blossom” Watson and a sister Judy Walston. 

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Osborn and husband Dr. Stephen of Abilene and Connie Patterson and husband Tomm of Trophy Club, Texas; one son, Neal Gray and wife, Kristi of Frisco, Texas; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Rushing and husband, Charter, Kendel Wayne and husband, Todd, Amber Norwood and husband, Michael, Trevor Patterson and wife, Katie, Mikayla Patterson, Garrett Gray and Emma Gray.

Family suggests memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
